Stevan Harnad is Professor of Cognitive Sciences at the University of Southampton, England. Born in Hungary, he studied at Princeton University. He is the founder of 'Behavioural and Brain Sciences', one of the most prestigious journals in the field of cognitive sciences, and of the electronic journal 'Psycoloquy', published by the American Psychological Association. He runs the COGPRINTS project, an electronic archive of cognitive science papers. Harnad is one of the most active supporters of the project of freeing online access to peer-reviewed-journal papers by author/institution self-archiving.
