Athanasius Kircher Correspondence Project
Michael John Gorman currently teaches in the Program in Science, Technology and Society at Stanford University. He is the director of the 'Athanasius Kircher Correspondence Project', an international project to produce a digital edition of the correspondence of the seventeenth century Jesuit polymath Athanasius Kircher. This project has recently made available the 8,500 manuscript pages of Kircher’s correspondence present in Rome for free online consultation, deploying software created by Luna Imaging. He is involved in a number of projects aimed at creating digital tools for the use of historians of science to supplement traditional scholarly techniques and resources. He is currently preparing an intellectual biography of Kircher, drawing on his unpublished correspondence.
